How Akvelon’s Interns Are Gaining Valuable Hands-on Experience in Tech

Over the past few weeks, Akvelon’s Bellevue team has thoroughly enjoyed helping our interns dive into the tech world and get valuable hands-on experience across the latest technologies. To ensure that our interns got the opportunity to work with projects that they would find most enriching to their career goals and tech passions, we decided to split them into teams and pair them with some of our best technical experts. The experts shared their knowledge with interns and mentored them throughout the journeys of their projects.

One such team worked on a fascinating project — the Google Earth Engine Climate Data Visualization project. Vladimir Trunov, a Lead Software Development Engineer who has been working with Akvelon for over six years, was its mentor. Lev Kochergin and Varun Wanjari participated in the project.

For this project, the team aimed to retrieve geospatial data from the Google Earth Engine and visualize it using the powerful Kepler.gl tool on a map with all necessary layers. They are currently working on creating an end-to-end solution that enables users to demonstrate their research results in a properly visualized form using the renowned Google Earth Engine, which is primarily used for climate research.

Vladimir had this to share about the interns he had the opportunity to mentor:

“They are absolutely driven, I see how they are inspired by this work. Lev is great at working with the backend, and Varun — with the front end. They both demonstrated research skills and resolved a big number of complicated tasks.”

At Akvelon, we are proud to have a team of exceptional tech talent who are driving innovation and making a real impact in the world of data visualization. Our interns have the opportunity to work alongside experienced mentors and contribute to real-world projects that will shape the future. We look forward to sharing more with you about what our other intern project teams have achieved soon!
