Experimenting with new technology can be challenging but also extremely rewarding and our talented developers have been working hard creating a completely new mixed reality experience for the Microsoft HoloLens. Which is why we are excited to announce that we will be providing a demo of our HoloLens MiniGolf game to visitors at the Akvelon exhibit space during the GeekWire Sports Tech Summit at CenturyLink Field Events Center on Thursday, June 22nd.
The possibilities of mixed reality took an enormous leap with the pre-production release of Microsoft’s HoloLens. Interacting with virtual objects in a real world setting has intriguing implications for nearly every industry from sports to ecommerce. So naturally, when this new technology became available, we wanted to experience these possibilities for ourselves and be a part of its development.
The Microsoft HoloLens
Akvelon’s MiniGolf experience for Microsoft’s HoloLens not only allows users to play a round of virtual golf in any room or real world space, but it also showcases the ability to pair another device with the HoloLens for use as a controller and tool, to help build the virtual course to fit real world surroundings.
The HoloLens MiniGolf app connects with its sister app on an Android device, as a result a smartphone can be used as the controller for the putter in the MiniGolf experience. The Android application also allows users to build a completely customized course with different obstacles to fit your surroundings.
Visitors to Akvelon’s exhibition space will be able to experience the mixed reality HoloLens MiniGolf game during the GeekWire Sports Tech Summit. Players will also be able to compete against each other and keep track of scores and standings on a leaderboard during the event. Prizes will be awarded to the players who rank in the top three places at the end of the day.
