Last week several Akvelon employees attended the GeekWire Bash 2019, an event for “networking, eating, drinking, and fun in between” according to GeekWire. The GeekWire Bash drew a crowd of over two thousand people ready to “geek out” over activities from virtual laser-tag to a zip-line, or in our case, a ping-pong tournament. This year marked the 8th annual GeekWire Bash, and our Akvelon team returned not only to take advantage of the great networking opportunities, but to participate in the Ping Pong Tournament.
Akvelon was represented by 5 of our best players in the ping pong tournament at all different levels. Technical Project Manager Sasha Melamed & Project Manager Alex Bobok competed in the Intermediate Level. Sean Eaton & Mukund Soundararajan represented our recruiting team and participated in the Doubles Ping Pong Tournament. Principle Software Engineer Valeri Kim represented Akvelon in the Expert Level of the tournament.
Our teams really impressed us with their Ping Pong skills! Sean and Mukund went all the way to the semi-finals for the Doubles Tournament, and Valeri won 2nd place for the Expert Level! This wasn’t Valeri’s first time bringing home a prize for Akvelon at a GeekWire Bash: he also won 2nd place back in 2017 and even won the Expert Level Tournament in 2012 and 2015!
Aside from dominating the ping pong tournaments, Akvelon also had representation at the general GeekWire Bash event. Doug Sandstedt, a member of our business development team, attended the GeekWire Bash not only to cheer on his Akvelon co-workers in the ping pong tournaments, but to also network with fellow tech professionals.
We would like to thank Alex, Doug, Mukund, Sasha, Sean, and Valeri for representing Akvelon so well last week! We love any chance to mingle with fellow tech enthusiasts, and getting the opportunity to show off our ping pong skills was a fun added bonus.
